October 27, 2016
Call to order:
The regular meeting of the Prattville Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)was called to order on
Thursday,October 27, 2016 at 4:31 p.m.
Roll Call:
The secretary called the roll. Members present were Chairman Thea Langley,Vice-Chairman Gray Price,
Mr. Will Barrett,Mrs. Kate Musgrove,Ms. Lenore Kirkpatrick, and Mr. Larry Smith.Members Absent:
Mrs. Jean Davis,and.
Quorum present
Also present was Mr. Joel Duke, City Planner and Ms.Alisa Morgan, Secretary.
Minutes:
Mr.Barrett moved to approve the minutes of the September 22, 2016 meeting. Ms.Musgrove
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Certificate of Appropriateness
Alteration/Addition-Rear porch remodel
119 First Street
Robert E. & Rachel L. Riddle, Petitioners
Rob Riddle, petitioner, presented his request to make alterations to structure located at 119 First Street.
He stated that he purchased the property where the “Slaton House” is currently located and is where he
plans to move his law practice.He proposed enclosing the rear porch using wood, lap siding to match the
existing structure and to replace the front solid wood doors with wood and glass door. He stated that he
would be replacing rotten wood on the front porch.
Mr. Duke provided the staff report for the Certificate of Appropriateness request at 119 First Street. He
stated that the structure was located on the property in the early 2000’s. He stated that it is a contributing
structure to the district.He stated that modifications to this structure are in keeping with the guidelines.
He requested that the front doors that are requested to be removed be preserved for future use.
Mr.Riddle stated that the replacement door would have two or three glass panels on the door. He stated
that he was in agreement with preserving the doors that would be removed.
The call for the vote was made. Vice-Chair Price moved to approve as submitted.Ms. Musgrove
seconded the motion.
The motion to approve passed unanimously.
There were no public comments.
Miscellaneous:
C. J. Martin wanted to address the HPC on a project she was proposing. Chairman Langley instructed her
of the proper procedure to appear on the agenda.
With the Thanksgiving holiday falling on their regular meeting date, the HPC unanimously voted to
reschedule their regular November meeting to November 17, 2016.

With no further business,the meeting was adjourned at 4:49 p.m.
