WORK SESSION MINUTES
TUESDAY, JULY 26, 2011
6:00 P.M.
The Prattville City Council held a work session on Tuesday, July 26th at 6:00 p.m.in the
council chambers at City Hall, 101 West Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067.
The meeting was called to order by Council President Mike Renegar. Councilmen Wood, Argo
and Fank were recorded as being absent. Mayor Gillespie, City Attorney David McDowell,
Battalion Commander Mike Whaley and Webmaster Teresa Lee were recorded as being
present as well as the following department heads: Planning Director Joel Duke, Interim
Finance Director Doug Moseley, Interim City Clerk Stephanie J. Southerland, Interim Police
Chief Tim Huggins, Interim Fire Chief Terry Brown, Interim Wastewater Director Rick
Teague and Human Resources Director Lisa Thrash. There was no representation from the
media.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the following:
The Information Technology department and addressing security issues. There was also
discussion about the possibility of eliminating the department and utilizing a private
company.
The renewal of the E-911 contract.
The possible increase in employee’s healthcare insurance premiums.
The ongoing Wastewater studies for their infrastructure and fees.
The Council Redistricting process is on track.
The contract for ambulance service to the County.
The City’s financial state as it relates to the current debt.
The Alabama League of Municipality’s opinion that we not participate in the proposed RSA
increase if possible.
At the close of the meeting, Mayor Gillespie thanked all of the Department Heads for working
closely with Mr. Moseley during the budget process and he hopes to present the 2012 budget
at the first City Council meeting in September.

There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 7:06
p.m.
