Minutes 2018-09-04 PRATTVILLE CITY COUNCIL CITY COUNCIL MINUTES TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 6:03 P.M. The Prattville City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 6:03 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. After the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, Council President Striplin gave the invocation. Roll was called and all Councilors were present. THE CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH IS PERSUASIVENESS: Effectively communicating with others so they can better understand. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Public Hearing and City Council Meeting August 21, 2018. Council President Pro Tempore Brown made a motion to adopt the minutes and Councilor Strichik seconded the motion. With no discussion, the minutes were adopted (7-0). COMMENTS FROM PERSONS PRESENT REGARDING TONIGHT’S AGENDA: None MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Gillespie regarding Labor Day, This holiday is a great tribute to our work forces in this country. The Mayor presented the City Council with the proposed FY2018/2019 Budget. The Mayor thanked all department heads and employees for their hard work and dedication to pull the budget together. The Mayor gave special thanks to Finance Director Daniel Oakley and Human Resources Director Lisa Thrash for all that they did during the budget process. The proposed budget is a road map and an acknowledgement of available funding. REPORT FROM COUNCIL ON SPECIAL COMMITTEES: None Council President Striplin recognized the Boy Scouts in attendance. The scouts were asked to stand and introduce themselves. The Troop was working on their Citizenship and Community Merit Badge. CONSENT AGENDA 1. RESOLUTION: To Authorize the Mayor to have Various Weeded Lots Abated per Title 11, Chapter 67 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as Amended. COMMENTS FROM PERSONS PRESENT: Jon Lee Finnegan, 211 Deer Trace, requested that the City of Prattville put the draft budget on-line just as the City of Montgomery has done, in order for citizens to have the information sooner. CLOSING COMMENTS: The Mayor thanked all employees, and department heads for their hard work and dedication to the City. Councilor Strichik commended the department heads for doing a fantastic job with the budget. Councilor Boone expressed appreciation for all that contributed to making the Labor Day’s Events in Prattville successful. Council President Striplin called a Budget Work Session for Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. ADJOURN: There being no further business to come before the council, Councilor Starnes made a motion to adjourn and Councilor Strichik seconded the motion.
