PUBLIC HEARING AGENDA
PRATTVILLE CITY COUNCIL
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2017
6:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER: The Prattville City Council met in public hearing on Tuesday, September
5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Council President Striplin called the
meeting to order. Roll was called and all were recorded as being present.
1. RESOLUTION: To Authorize the Mayor to have Various Weeded Lots Abated per Title 11,
Chapter 67 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as Amended. (Sponsored By: Councilor Starnes)
Lee Hammett, 172 Primrose Dr., addressed the Council regarding the weeded lot at 174
Primrose Drive. The property has overgrown weeds and grass, a pool, mosquitoes, flies, and
trash. Something needs to be done with this property. This is an older neighborhood and
property owners are proud of their neighborhood. Due to rats and other health concerns for the
property, Mr. Hammett asked the Council to expedite the clearing of this property. The backyard
has not been cut in two years. There is a resident in the house.
Richard Brantley, 176 Primrose, also addressed the Council regarding the property located at
174 Primrose Drive. Mr. Brantley has been to the Mayor’s office to discuss the property. Mr.
Brandt has lived in his house for forty-two years and has never had a snake issue. This year
he has had snakes. The back yard at 174 Primrose Drive has not been cut in approximately
five years. The pool is green and the pump is not visible. Other neighbors in the area keep
immaculate yards. Something has to be done with this property.
