Minutes 2016-07-05 1 PRATTVILLE CITY COUNCIL CITY COUNCIL MINUTES TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2016 6:03 P.M. The Prattville City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 6:03 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. After the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, Council President Wood gave the invocation. Roll was called and Councilor Boles was recorded as being absent. Councilor Boles was out of state at his daughter’s graduation. THE CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH IS RESPONSIBILITY: Knowing and doing what is expected of me. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Public Hearing and City Council Meeting June 21, 2016 Councilor Starnes made a motion to adopt the minutes and Councilor Whiteside seconded the motion. With no discussion, the minutes were adopted (6-0). COMMENTS FROM PERSONS PRESENT REGARDING TONIGHT’S AGENDA: None MAYOR’S REPORT: The Mayor was granted a point of personal privilege. Mayor Gillespie and Police Chief Mark Thompson presented the badge to recently promoted Captain David Fowler of the Prattville Police Department. Captain Fowler expressed his gratitude to the Mayor and Council, Chief Thompson, Assistant Chief Diane Hamm, his fellow Captains, and all others present. The City of Prattville celebrated the 4th of July from the parade to the fireworks and everything in between. Mayor Gillespie thanked all who joined in the patriotic celebration and thanked those who prepared for and worked the events. The Mayor also thanked the Independence Day Committee for their support and hard work and the Council for funding the events. The next Creekwalk Concert will be held on July 12, 2016, featuring Common Ground. Mayor Gillespie asked the Council to support Agenda Items #1 & #2. As a mechanized, service- oriented organization, these replacement vehicles would allow the department to function more efficiently and effectively. RESOLUTION: To Authorize the Mayor to have Various Weeded Lots Abated per Title 11, Chapter 67 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as Amended. The events made for a fun weekend. Councilor Boone had the opportunity to work with City departments over the weekend and use some of the recently purchased equipment. Council President Wood congratulated Captain Fowler on his promotion. Council President Wood thanked all employees for their work for the City. He thanked the Council for their hard work and encouraged Councilors to continue to work with their committees during this busy season. ADJOURN: There being no further business to come before the council, Councilor Boone made a motion to adjourn and Councilor Starnes seconded the motion.
