Minutes 2013-09-031 PRATTVILLE CITY COUNCIL CITY COUNCIL MINUTES TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2013 6:03 P.M. The Prattville City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 6:03 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. After the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, Councilor Chambliss gave the invocation. Roll was called and all councilors were recorded as being present. THE CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH IS RESPONSIBILITY: Knowing and doing what is expected of me. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Public Hearing and City Council Meeting August 20, 2013. Councilor Boone made a motion to approve the minutes and Councilor Starnes seconded the motion. The minutes were approved (7-0). COMMENTS FROM PERSONS PRESENT REGARDING TONIGHT’S AGENDA: None MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Gillespie recognized the President of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, Richard Ray. It has been 12 years since the 9/11 attacks. The City will hold a ceremony in honor of our fallen Americans at Fire Station III, on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. The Mayor presented the Council with the FY2013-2014 Draft Budget. The Mayor was granted a point of personal privilege to allow Gene Hall, former president of the Autauga County Fair Association, to address the Council. Mr. Hall presented the Council with a list of organizations in the community that the Autauga County Fair Association has donated to. The donations totaled $48,000.00. Council President Wood thanked Mr. Hall for his service to the City as a former Councilor and through the Autauga County Fair Association. REPORT FROM COUNCIL ON SPECIAL COMMITTEES: Councilor Brown reported that the Street Committee met on August 26, 2013 to discuss traffic issues in school zones. Councilor Brown thanked Chief Thompson and all police officers on behalf of the committee. Improvements in the traffic in these areas have already been seen. Councilor Starnes reported that the Vehicle Maintenance Committee met on August 23, 2013 to discuss their budget. CONSENT AGENDA: 1. RESOLUTION: To Declare Various Weeded Lots to be a Public Nuisance and Ordering 2 Their Abatement per Title 11, Chapter 67 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as Amended. The Consent Agenda was accepted (7-0). The Mayor urged the Council to contact him with any questions or concerns regarding the budget. Councilor Boles thanked the Prattville Service League for putting on the Labor Day Barbecue event at Pratt Park, on September 2, 2013.
