PRATTVILLE CITY COUNCIL
PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES TUESDAY, JULY 20, 2021 6:07 P.M. CALL TO ORDER: The Prattville City Council met in Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 20, 2021,
at 6:07 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Council President Starnes called the meeting
to order. Roll was called and all Councilors were recorded as being present. 1. RESOLUTION: To Grant a Lounge Retail Liquor - Class II (Package) License for PM MODI, Inc. d/b/a Premiere Bottle and Wine. (Sponsored By: Council President Starnes)
Jack Patel, 8805 Broderick Street, Montgomery, spoke in favor of the resolution. He stated that he invested money in the business and leased the property with intent to sell alcohol. 2. RESOLUTION: To Authorize the Mayor to have Various Weeded Lots Abated per Title 11,
Chapter 67 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as Amended. (Sponsored By: Council President
Starnes) There was no one present to speak in favor or in opposition to the resolution.
3. ORDINANCE: To Adopt Proposed Amendments to the City of Prattville Code of Ordinances,
Appendix A-Zoning, Article 6, Section 67 and Article 7, Section 71. (Sponsored By: Councilor
Chambers)

Jon Lee Finnegan, 211 Deer Trace, spoke in opposition of the ordinance. She stated the City was promoting growth, but a decrease from 3 story apartments to 2 story in the ordinance was
contradictory. She believed the City would need apartments in the future, as specified in the
comprehensive plan, and restricting the height would be detrimental to development. Dr. Gerald Cimis, 141 North Chestnut Street, spoke in opposition of the ordinance. He felt portions of the ordinance were redundant, parking guidelines inadequate, several requirements
seemed to have no relation to the health and welfare of the public, and was overly restrictive.
ADJOURN: There being no further comments, Council President Starnes closed the Public Hearing at 6:17
p.m.
